Watts & Sons becomes Diamond Estate Agents – 19th October launch event

This week marks a brand-new era for the long-established Tiverton estate agency, Watts & Sons, with a change of ownership, a new team and gleaming new premises as it becomes Diamond Estate Agents (Incorporating Watts & Sons).

Founded in 1966 by the Watts family, Watts & Sons has been successfully selling and letting property in Mid Devon for more than half a century. With the Watts brothers now retired, the popular agency is undergoing a reinvigorating transformation by its new owners, husband and wife team, Mark and Charlotte Farrell.

Under Mark & Charlotte’s ownership, Watts & Sons have been re-named Diamond Estate Agents (incorporating Watts & Sons), reflecting a top level of service for clients as well as the couple’s clear and honest approach. The agency’s elegant new branding – in black, white and gold with its logo a house sitting atop a diamond – will be adorning its office, For Sale and Sold boards, paperwork, and marketing material very soon.

The name is also reflected in the agency’s range of lettings services – from its quarter carat let-only service to its full carat fully managed service.

The agency has a brand-new home in prominent offices in the heart of Tiverton town centre – a perfectly placed, prime position to showcase its properties with an interactive touch screen TV – the only one in the town – which can also be used to arrange viewing and valuation appointments. It is hoped that the interactive screen will become the information hub of the town, displaying adverts by local businesses as well as community notices and information about upcoming local events.

Mark is a seasoned estate agent, having very successfully worked in property sales and lettings for more than 20 years. He said: “I was more than ready to start my own venture and Charlotte and I liked the idea of taking on a well-respected family business with the same values as our own. The Watts family are known for their honest, trustworthy service and for really getting to know their customers and community. We hold the same ethos and are honoured to have the opportunity to take a well-regarded family business forward.”

The agency’s team has expanded to seven with Mark and Charlotte hands-on at the helm. Nick Wilkinson, previously a senior negotiator at a local agency, heads up the sales team supported by Rebekah Parker, who has returned to estate agency after a short career break with her young children. Kathy Welden, lettings manager, is well known in Tiverton and is excited to return to the local lettings market; and Lucy Baker covers the office on Saturdays while the rest of the team are out on appointments. The whole team is supported by Lynn Watts, who has remained with the agency. Mark said: “We are very lucky that Lynn has stayed on. Her support during the transition has been invaluable.”

The whole Diamond team is family orientated, taking the time to get to know each customer and their circumstances, which is how the team often successfully matches buyers and tenants to properties before they even reach the market.

Mark continued: “We appreciate that moving house often comes at a time of great change and can be stressful and overwhelming. Our sofas are worth their weight in gold as our clients can come in for a relaxing coffee and a chat during a time when they really need to feel supported and listened to.”

Both Mark and Charlotte play an active role in the local community – Mark coaches the Moors Youth Under 8’s football team, which their eldest son plays in; Charlotte does the marketing for Tiverton Community Arts Theatre; and they both co-own Five Cedars Health & Beauty with Charlotte’s family, so they’re often involved in supporting community events.

Diamond is the only estate agent in Tiverton to be a member of The Guild of Property Professionals with its glossy magazine and Mayfair head office; and of the Experts in Property network of independent estate agencies spanning the whole of the Westcountry, working together to reach more buyers and sell more homes.

Diamond’s new interactive website is set to launch very soon.

Tiverton Mayor, Colin Slade will officially open the Diamond Estate Agents (Incorporating Watts & Sons) office with a launch event taking place on Saturday 19th October. Join the whole Diamond team for bubbles and nibbles from 11am till 2pm.
